Hilux GR Sport

600-off Hilux GR Sport now available

Meet Toyota’s second fiftieth birthday present to Hilux — the ultra-exclusive Hilux GR Sport also rolls out the next chapter in Toyota’s GR product portfolio. Toyota’s new sporting arm Gazoo Racing's second tier GR Sport models like this Hilux bring suspension upgrades and cosmetic enhancements to market.

Gazoo of course also races Toyotas in Dakar, the World Endurance and World Rally Championships and in NASCAR and with its Dakar Hiluxes now synonymous with the brand following Nasser Al Attiah’s 2019 victory in the SA-built racer, Hilux GR Sport now gives you a great chance to celebrate that Dakar success too .

Hilux GR of course wades into an all-new superbakkie war zone with the likes of the recently launched Ranger Raptor and DMax Arctic, never mind the more conventional Amarok and X-Class V6s.

Now, like those former bakkies, GR Sport’s biggest enhancements come in its suspension, where Gazoo Racing has installed bespoke uprated monotube shock absorbers with revised damping and spring rates for a sportier ride without sacrificing ride comfort. Rear leaf spring rates however remain to maintain the existing payload, while still delivering significantly improved off-road handling, steering, and body control and a sharper on-road steering feel.

Hilux GR Sport also gains brash Gazoo Racing signature branding and comes in those three matching Gazoo white, red or black colours. Add an enlarged Dakar-like Toyota and GR-branded black honeycomb grille, a black bonnet, roof and side mirrors and tailgate badging, as well as GR tubular side steps, over-fenders and GR-Sport specific 17” alloys shod with 265-65-R17 rubber.

Step inside to a find red accented black leather clad cockpit complete with GR logos and push start button and a branded production to confirm its pedigree on a piano black dash highlighted by a red accent. There’s a bigger new flush mounted
8-inch infotainment system with welcome tuning and shortcut knobs, satellite navigation, DVD, USB, Bluetooth and Aux interfaces and steering wheel controls along with a convenient reverse camera. Add white-faced dials each side a multi-info display.

Hilux GR Sport gets the standard 130kW and 450Nm 2.8 GD-6 turbodiesel turning a 6-speed automatic transmission and on-the-fly four-wheel drive with driver selectable Power and Eco modes.

Only 600 GR Sport models will be built and available at R707K with a 3-year/100 000km warranty and 9-service/90 000 km service plan extendable via the Toyota dealer.
