Mustang sharpens up

Ford has unleashed its sleeker, more aerodynamic and more stylish new Mustang in South Africa at last.

Still to be had in both in Fastback or Convertible, the Blue Oval promises enhanced engines, sharper driving dynamics and advanced driver assistance technologies, while an ‘upscale’ cabin gains soft-touch materials and aluminium finishes and packs 12-inch Sync 3 infotainment with Drive Modes out of the GT supercar, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and embedded navigation.

There’s good news under the hood with enhanced 213kW 441Nm (11Nm up) 2.3 EcoBoost and 22Kw boosted 331kW 529Nm 5-litre direct petrol injection V8 power and Ranger’s revolutionary paddle-shifter 10-speed auto gearbox, while new Active Valve Performance Exhaust tech brings the choice of rorty driving and even a Good Neighbour Mode.

But there's more — Ford has made an exclusive run of just fifty 338kW V8 six-speed manual Steve McQueen inspired Mustang Bullitt special editions available to the lucky few too.

New Mustang also packs recalibrated shock absorbers, thicker anti-roll bars and stiffer rear suspension, along with driver assistance including Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control and Distance Alert, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Aid and new LED lighting tech too

Mustang comes with a Ford Protect four-year/120 000km warranty, six-year/90 000km service plan at 15 000km intervals, three years roadside assistance and a five-year corrosion warranty.
