First Opel under PSA leaks on the net

The forthcoming Corsa — Opel's first new model since Opel became part of PSA Peugeot-Citroen — has been leaked ahead of its expected reveal in a few weeks time.

Bearing a significantly different design to the new Peugeot 208 with which it shares its guts, the Opel is lower and wider than its predecessor while nicking several cues from the Grandland X up front and also bearing strong similarities to big sister Astra at the rear.

New Corsa weighs up to 108kg less than its predecessor thanks to PSA’s Common Modular front-wheel-drive Platform's lightweight measures, including high-strength steel bodywork, lightweight insulation materials and will be propelled by PSA sourced all-aluminium powertrains including the turbocharged 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol in a variety of power outputs, as the electric eCorsa previewed in these images.

They will sit under an aluminium bonnet and behind segment leading adaptive-beam full LED lighting as the first of a new wave of Opel models set to new platforms, engines and hardware shared with Peugeot, Citroën and DS models.
